Oakhurst Farm currently has 3 coaches responsible for riding lessons,  Ruth J. Allum, Helen (Allum) Richardson & Megan Jenner.

Ruth J. Allum

Ruth J. Allum coaches students who are competing at the Entry to Advanced levels.  These students make up the Oakhurst Show Team.  Ruth is certified by Equine Canada with her Competition Coach Specialist – Eventing Coach designation. Ruth J. Allum Ruth coaches students age 10 and up both at Oakhurst Farm and through clinics worldwide.  Her coaching has recently taken her to places like Guatemala, where she works with the national team, helping to provide them with an International perspective.  Go to Ruth’s corner of the Oakhurst Website to learn more about her. Ruth is currently a member of the Canadian Eventing Committee and the National Coaching Committee. She is also a certified EC Coach Evaluator, EC Rider Level Evaluator (Level 1 to 10) , EC Rider Level 1-10 Evaluator Mentor and an EC Competition Coach and Competition Coach Specialist Mentor.  Ruth is a Certified Equine Massage Therapist. Helen (Allum) Richardson

Helen is one of Oakhurst Farm’s Equine Canada Certified Competition Coaches.  Helen’s passion for horses started at an early age.  Growing up riding in the Ottawa area, she was active in Pony Club, Eventing and Dressage and competed in Hunter, Jumper and Equitation on the “A” circuit. IMG_5395 Helen’s eye tends more towards the equitation and position of a rider.  She coaches younger students and adults who are discovering their love for horses.  With her emphasis on their posture, position and enjoyment of the sport, Helen helps to build students who can move easily in to Ruth’s competitive program.  Helen acts as coach for Ruth’s students with Megan when Ruth is traveling, and coaches Oakhurst Show Team students with Ruth & Megan during competitions. Helen is also a guest blogger on the Ontario Equestrian Federation’s website. Her blog “It’s a Coach’s Life” discusses the path to becoming and maintaining coaching certification. Helen is also a certified EC Rider Level Evaluator (Level 1 to 7) and EC Rider Level Evaluator Mentor (Level 1 to 7) and an EC Instructor and Competition Coach Mentor. Helen is also certified as an EC Coach Developer – Learning Facilitator.

Megan Jenner

Megan Jenner is the newest Certified Coach at Oakhurst Farm. Growing up riding in Windsor, ON, Megan joined the Oakhurst team in 2014 as a Working Student – working towards her coaching certification. Achieving her Instructor of Beginner Certification in April 2015, and her Competition Coach Certification in July 2016, Megan covers lessons for Helen and Ruth when they are unavailable and is a competitor on the Oakhurst Show Team with Oakhurst’s younger school horses, as well as assuming coaching duties at shows and events as needed.

Megan

Megan is an active coach who enjoys running our Summer Camps and teaching many of our younger students. Her enthusiasm and desire to share a love for all things equestrian makes her a wonderful coach for our Junior riders – her emphasis on the FUNdamentals gives her students a great start in our sport!  Megan is Oakhurst’s rider-in-residence and offers training rides for client horses both for conditioning and schooling. Megan is also a certified EC Rider Level Evaluator (Level 1 to 7). Competition Coach Specialist – Eventing (Ruth)

Private lesson (45 min) $70 each, plus HST

Semi-Private lesson (45 min) $55 each, plus HST

Group lesson (1 hour) $50 each, plus HST

Competition Coach (Helen & Megan)

Private lesson (45 min) $55 each, plus HST

Semi-Private lesson (45 min) $45 each, plus HST

Group lesson (1 hour) $40 each, plus HST

LESSONS MUST BE CANCELLED WITH 24 HOURS NOTICE.
